Latterman - No Matter Where We Go

I was trying really hard to find a band that would fit for a perfect first post on this entry (mine not Ana’s who already posted like 400* bands on the two days that it’s be on) and while driving this morning I played this album on my way to work and it really hit me. To me Latterman was what a positive band should really strive to be, right now in Mexico there’s a huge “positive hardcore” movement going on that to be honest I don’t swallow, not one bit, I know a lot of the guys in the bands and they don’t live their lives according to what they preach onstage through their generic lyrics and lame breakdowns, I’m not saying this for everyband aright? So keep the sweet talking for other time please! Now about Latterman, I really don’t know if they did live to to their lyric sheet, I don’t know the guys and there aren’t many interviews around for me to make a clear judgment but if there is something certain is that every time I listen to this record I want to be a better person and fuck it does make me feel better, If you ask me to compare them to another band I wouldn’t be able. For fuck sake they weren’t a band, on my book they were a fucking event! Really poppy with not-that-distorted guitars, mid tempo but really energetic drums and the whole band singing mostly at the same time, taking on topics like sexism, friendship, personal conflicts and everyday life but always under the “life is fucked but you gotta keep going “ mentality. Asking the audience to question their own upbringing and the consequences of this on today’s world. The band broke up leaving us with three great albums and the members went to do sweet band like Shorebirds, Iron Chic and Bridge and Tunnel.

Me estaba costando mucho trabajo encontrar una banda apropiada para mi primer post en este blog (no como a Ana quien a los dos días ya subió como 400* bandas) y mientras manejaba al trabajo puse este disco y me pego bien cabrón. Para mi Latterman tiene todo lo que una banda positiva debería tirarle a tener, hoy en día en México hay una ola de “hardcore positivo” que siendo honesto no me trago para nada, ¿Por qué? Porque conozco a la mayoría de las bandas que integran dichos grupos y sé que no viven acorde a lo que “predican” en el escenario entre sus breakdows de hueva. Aclaro que esto no va para todas las bandas, si te queda el saco póntelo y por favor nada de pegarme cuando me veas en un show. Ahora con respecto a Latterman, no sé si ellos si vivieron conforme a lo impreso en el lyric sheet de su disco, no los conozco y hay muchas pocas entrevistas en internet para formarme un criterio con respecto a ellos sin embargo si algo es seguro es que cada vez que escucho su disco me hacen querer ser una mejor persona y al chile el disco me hace sentir muy bien, si me pides que los compare con alguna banda la verdad no puedo. Viéndolo bien para mi Latterman no fue una banda fue un puto evento! Canciones muy poperonas con guitarras no muy distorsionadas, baterías mid tempo muy energéticas y toda la banda cantando casi siempre al mismo tiempo, sus canciones tocaban temas como el sexismo, la amistad, problemas personales pero siempre con una mentalidad de “todo está jodido pero tenemos que seguir”. Pidiéndonos que nos cuestionemos nuestra formación y la consecuencia que esta tiene en el mundo actual. Esta banda se deshizo dejándonos tres discos buenísimos y sus integrantes cada uno por su cuenta hicieron nuevas bandas buenísimas también como Shorebirds, Iron Chic y Bridge and Tunnel
